In the recent years, with the launch of many newspapers and television channels, news in India has managed to create a very strong presence in every individual’s mind. News on the Internet is also growing rapidly. India has over 50,000 newspapers approximately, wherein over 5500 are daily newspapers published in various languages. Hindi news papers are the most circulated, followed by English. There are about forty domestic news agencies, among which the Press Trust of India and the United News of India are considered to be the major ones. Owing to the low telecast rates, the last decade saw a steady rise in the number of TV news channels. Today, there are about 36 news channels and more are in the pipeline.
